Senior Project Reflection

1) The most thing that I am proud of with Senior Project was how much on the job experience I got, and also all the different things that I was able to learn.  The reason why is because I now have a head start over all the other EMT students when I start my class.

2a) The assesment that I would give myself for my 2-hr presentation would be AP+/ P-, reason is because I met all the requirements and I felt i did a satisfactory job with the room decoration, activitys, props, answers

2b) I would give myself a P in my senior project, I went above and beyond in certain projects and I tried my very best with everything that was given to me. Also when problems arose I found ways to go around them and continue pushing through.

3) What worked for me in my senior project was service learning and how much I learned from all of that experience. What also worked was the Every 15 Minutes, because it brought me closer to the school and I left a footprint there that will always be rememered.

4) What didn't work for me in my senior project was the Independent Components, i felt that they were unnecessary and in a sence pointless. I had both really good I.C i just felt that they were pointless.

5) I found value in my service learning because i learned so much from my two different places.

6) My S.P will help me in my future because this is the job that i want to get into after high school, in which i got plenty hours of OTJ training that has prepared me.

Service Learning

Here is a LOG for my service learning
1. Jack Fordham is one of my service learning contacts his phone number is 909 319 6290
2. The most important thing that I gained from my service learning experience was how to act, behave as well as the things that I have to do as an EMT. Since that is the profession that I want to get into after I graduate High School. So everything that I learned from service learning was very vital to me and my career.
3. The things that I did during my service learning, and the things that I learned helped me answer my EQ in every aspect. Having service learning with an ambulance company as well as an emergency room helped me to see both sides of an EMT. In which I wouldn't be able to any other way. I would get an answer through one of my Interviews and then I would do more research on it, and I would also apply what they said to the way that I interacted with the patients and staff etc. Since my EQ is, WWhat is most Important to being a Successful EMT, and through experience through my service learning i got my three answers.

Independent Component 2

"I Brittny Jansen, affirm that I completed my Independent component which represents 30 hours of work."
- What my second independent component was/ is a program that raises awareness of drunk driving and texting while driving, and the consequences that would to come of those actions. The original plans ended up changing over time due to complications. But none the less my event, still known as Every 15 Minutes is going to take place on April 30 and May 1. How it demonstrates 30 hours of work is obvious. I'm planing a two day simulation, corresponding with fire, police, ambulance and air transport. As well as having my own elective and club called S.T.U.D.D meaning Students and Teachers Unanimously against Drunk Driving. My Independent component doesn't help me answer my essential question, but it does help me understand it. What I mean by that is throughout the process of planning this event, it has helped me understand that life is important. Therefore as an EMT I'm going to try my hardest to do the very best I can to try and save that person.

Here is my LOG of my hours. If there are any questions don't hesitate to ask.

Helping 2013

I Interviewed Logan Ramirez, Wednesday Morning around 7:30 am.
1. What ideas do you have for your senior project?
              The special Olympics
Feedback. I stated/ asked her what does she think that she will gain with doing this as her Senior Project.
2. What do you plan to do for the 10 hours of service learning before school starts?
Since I already volunteer at later-man facility and at Claremont high school for the practices for the special Olympics, so finding a service learning contact is not a problem for me. Due to already having one.
Feedback. I asked her where she plans to be/ how much farther she plans on going with the special olympics. Meaning with research and service learning, because she said that she has been volunteering there for years already. I just wanted to make sure that she gains something more out of her senior project that what she already knows know.
3.What do you hope to see or expect to see while watching the class of 2012 present there 2 hour presentations?
Hopefully I can see and understand and see how they work, and how everything comes together, and what I want to see is a presentation that relates to what I want to do, and get ideas from.
Feedback. I told her that when I was watching last years senior presentations, it actually gave me a lot of ideas of what to do and what not to do and things like that. The thing that I gave her a tip on was, make sure that you think about it thoroughly and back up your answers with an amazing activity.
4. What questions do you have about Senior Project?
I don't really have any right now, you pretty much answered them
Feedback. Just make sure you manage your time wisely and don't get discourage with things and just stay focused, its hard but you can do it

Answer #3

EQ: What is most important to being a successful EMT?

Answer 3. Business Networking
Evidence. Since there are so many different types of Ambulance Companies out there as well as Hospitals you have to have a differentiating thing within  your business that stands out above everything else. Something that your known for. You do that by networking with other business at locations such as Hospitals etc. Service Learning( Mission and Medic 1 Ambulance)
Evidence. Article # 54 It specifically talks about having a type of trade or service that many people need but not many other ambulance companies have. It can also be having credible and a positive reputation. If patients know that and other hospitals and ambulance companies then they will no doubt send patients to you.
Evidence. Article #52. Business networking is a way for you to make the maxim, It's not what you know, It's who you know..." In all essence this is so true, especially in this field. Its one of the most important things in order for you to be successful.
